Lost Lake?

To enjoy our last fleeting days of sunshine and the outdoors we searched for the most magical place to spend our last memories. Although they call it Lost Lake- we found it! In the shadows of Mount Hood we discovered a gorgeous little hidden lake nestled among the Doug Firs. An amazing park with secluded camp sites and only a 3.5 mile loop around the lake, complete with our own private swimming pool.

We swam in the evenings during the last bits of sunshine.

Berto hearts camping!
We had some extra company during the trip...

We took a long hike up to a butte with excellent views of Mt. Hood and a snippit of Mt. Adams. Standing there in all its immensity, its the symbol that overlooks Portland (when the clouds break). Next spring we have plans to climb it...possibly. It looks really tall.

TiiiiiiiiiimmmmmbbbbeeerrrrSSSS!!!!

So apparently there are other sports than baseball, basketball and football- there is FUTBOL. In the states we know of this slightly popular sport as Soccer. And in Portland, they are only 1 in 3 on the other sports so futbol reigns supreme. Todd treated me to my first Portland Timbers game where we participated in chanting, beer-drinking and nacho-cheese eating- overall not too different than any other sports game I've attended.

The fancy JELD-WEN field!

The infamous Timbers Army. They are contained within two large sections in the back of the stadium. The army traditionally arrives almost 2 hours before the game starts...and continues their chanting throughout the night. When you arrive they give you a list of over 10 different chants which are lead by chant leaders in the front of the sections.

The man with the hat the is the mascot Timber Joey.

Labor Day in Seattle

We took the three day weekend and headed North to Seattle. It was a long drive, but we got in some bike-riding, swimming (at least ONE of us swam) and Bumpershoot-ing (a big music and art festival where people drive around in bumper cars shooting at each other). It was a beautiful weekend in Washington...probably was the last until next summer :(

A visit to the Cascades

Bumpershoot Madness!
